Boatsetter Tips on How To Spookify Your Boat This Halloween

Halloween is a time for costumes, pumpkins, ghosts, and goblins, and of course, boat rentals! Here are a few tips on how to spookify your boat for this year’s Halloween season.

Decorations are a Must Have

Half the excitement for Halloween comes from the endless preparation, the spooky decorations, and the anticipation of dressing up and having a great night! If you don’t know where to start, cobwebs are always a spooky addition to any setting. Lacing your vessel with cobwebs will certainly turn some heads. If you want to keep it simple, you can hang some Halloween themed lights from your t-top or even add some orange and black pillows to your boat’s rear and front seating arrangements accompanied by some jack-o-lanterns. If you want to provide your renters with a once in a lifetime experience, turn your vessel into a modern-day pirate ship. Make sure you or your USCG Licensed Captain dresses up as a pirate with a parrot for a best friend, this will surely engage your renters! You can then start with adding one or two cross-boned flags to the stern of your boat. Adding a skeleton to the bow of the ship to act as a figurehead is a great way to protect your vessel from any evil spirits, and to give your boat that authentic pirate ship feel. Placing shackles and chains around the cockpit or the interior edge of your vessel will give your renters the heebie-jeebies, and of course the opportunity to get some unique pictures of them enjoying your boat.

Trick or Treat

Decorating your slip at the marina can also provide an authentic Halloween feel to the renter's experience. You can also throw on a spooky playlist that will make your renters feel surrounded by terror as they approach your vessel. Of course, candy is an essential part of everyone’s Halloween so make sure to have plenty of candy for your guests and any trick-or-treaters who come by on land or at sea! As trick-or-treaters move out of the neighborhoods and onto the docks, marinas have begun hosting decoration competitions for slip owners. Find out if your marina is holding a competition and sign up to take part in this year’s Halloween festivities!
