The City of Angels, La-La Land, or simply just L.A.—regardless of what you call it, there’s always been something special about Los Angeles, California. If you’re planning a trip to the west coast, don’t miss out on booking your L.A. boat rental, to gain the ultimate Los Angeles experience!
Beach and Surf

Learn to Sail
California waters present ideal conditions for sailors—both those with years of experience and first-timers. Marina del Ray is one of the best areas in Los Angeles to learn to sail for the first time. Not to mention, just a short distance away from L.A., you’ll find Catalina Island. If you’re new to sailing, you may want to hire a captain with your boat rental who can show you the ropes.
Before heading out, check out some tips and tricks for getting started in our Sailing 101 experience guide.
If you do decide to make the trip over to Catalina Island, you’ll have another opportunity for fun. Catalina is known for whale watching along the Channel Islands National Park and National Marine Sanctuary. Keep an eye out for humpback, orca and finback whales. You also may be able to spot Pacific grey whales or blue whales near San Pedro. It’s rumored that over 27 different types of whales frequent the waters near Santa Barbara!
Use our whale watching experience guide to help you distinguish the differences in species—and it may also help in providing a few tips on what to look out for when whale watching.
Outside of renting a boat to explore Los Angeles, you may want to consider another option: a yacht charter! Many are often misled and discouraged away from yacht charters because of price, but in actuality, yacht charters can actually be very affordable—especially if you split the cost between family and friends. Opting for a charter can make your vacation and time in L.A. even more relaxing, creating a completely stress-free environment.

West Coast Fishing
Last on our Los Angeles bucket list is planning your very own west coast fishing charter. Fishing in the Pacific Ocean is an experience of a lifetime, and after a day on the water, you may get lucky and hook yourself a giant albacore or yellowfin tuna, a white sea bass, a red snapper, a whitefish or countless others.
